How To Make A 3D Snowman Craft
Make your basic snowman shape by fixing a small polystyrene ball onto a large polystyrene ball. UHU glue works great for this because it’s so fast drying, if you haven’t tried it before it’s definitely worth giving it a go. With UHU I love that kids don’t have to hold pieces in place waiting for glue to dry and it washes off hands easily too.
If your kids are old enough to be safe with cocktail sticks you might want to use one to fix the head on with instead of glue. This means the head can be rotated around to face any direction – great if you’re using them for imaginary play rather than Christmas ornaments.
Once you’ve got your basic snowman shape it’s just a case of dressing it up with fun features. We used coloured felt to make the snowman’s carrot nose and wooly scarf and buttons for the snowman’s eyes and tummy. We stuck the features on the snowman craft using UHU.
If you’re using this snowman craft as a Christmas ornament to hang on the tree you’ll need to add a thread loop for hanging it up with. An easy way is to make a small hole in the top of the snowman’s head with a cocktail stick, cut a length of butchers twine to make a loop and use a drop of glue to hold the ends in place in the hole.
Won’t this snowman craft look adorable hanging on the Christmas tree? How about using them to create a table centre piece or a small world snow scene for imaginary play?
