If you’ve ever wanted to know how to make an elf hat out of paper then look no further! This Elf Hat Craft Printable is just what you’ve been looking for!
We’ve designed the most adorable elf hat with ears which is super fun for kids or grown-ups to wear this Christmas! These colourful paper elf hats are really easy to make with the elf hat pattern printable.
There are 2 versions to choose from:
- Full colour with 4 different multicultural skin colours to choose from.
- Black/white that you can either colour in, trace around onto coloured paper or print straight onto coloured paper.

Elf Hat Craft Tutorial
Elf Hat Craft Supplies:
- Elf Hat Craft Template
- Paper
- Marker Pen
- Scissors
- Stapler
- Glue
- Optional: white pompom (A paper pompom is included with the template if you prefer.)
How To Make a Paper Elf Hat Craft
1 – Download and print your Christmas elf hat template.
2 – Cut out the template pieces.
3 – Colour the pieces or trace around them onto coloured craft paper or thin card. You will make 2 green bands, 2 skin coloured ears, 4 green triangles, 4 red triangles, 2 white zig zags and a white pompom.
4 – Cut out the pieces.
5 – Staple the two green strips together to make a hat band.
6 – Glue the red and green triangles around the inside of the elf hat band. Alternate the colours.
7 – Fold the ear stem and use your marker pen to draw some detail on the ear.
8 – Glue the ear stem inside the elf hat at either side.
9 – Glue the white zig zags to the front and back of the Christmas hat.
10 – One at a time, glue the triangle points together at the top of the elf hat.
11 – When the glue at the top of your elf hat craft has dried and is secure, add the white paper pompom on top.
Now your elf hat is ready to be worn! What fun!
