How To Make Superhero Puppets For Father’s Day
– Print your Father’s Day Superhero puppet template straight onto white printer card. You can choose a black and version shown in the photo above or a full colour version shown in the photo below.
– The full colour version has 9 variations of skin and hair colour to choose from.
– Colour in your Super Dad if you are using the black and white version.
– Cut out all the puppet template pieces. There is a head, body, cape, 2 arms, 2 legs and 2 message tabs.
– Use a single hole puncher to make holes at the joints of the arms and legs and in corresponding positions on the body.
– Join the limbs of your superhero puppet to the body with paper fasteners.
– Turn your superhero puppet over and with the arms in a down position sew a piece of embroidery twine between the two arms and knot off the ends.
– Repeat this process between the two legs.
– Keeping the arms and legs in the down position tie a length of thread onto the middle of the thread spanning the arms.
– Next take the thread towards the legs and tie it onto the middle of the thread that spans the legs. Leave a length hanging between the legs.
– Glue on Super Dad’s cape and head. (Only apply glue to the very top of the cape so it doesn’t stick to the threads you’ve just sewn.)
- Finish off your Father’s Day Puppets by gluing the message tabs onto the bottom of the thread to make a pull handle. There are two messages you can glue back to back, sandwiching the thread in between. “Happy Father’s Day” and “You Are My Superhero.”
– Hold Super Dad’s head and pull the message at the bottom to make his arms and legs shoot up and out to the side. When you let go the limbs will return to their starting position.
