Sometimes really simple crafts are just the best aren’t they? This HANDPRINT ANGEL CRAFT FOR KIDS is right up the top of our list as one of our favourite easy peasy Christmas crafts.
In fact, we enjoyed making our handprint angels so much that we ended up creating lots of them, each with different skin colours and hairstyles. We’ve chosen our three favourite angels to show you in the photos.
These are lovely Christmas angel crafts for kids of all ages. Younger kids can keep it really simple and older kids can enjoy adding different hairstyles and embellishments.
We’ve made our angels as stand alone crafts but they are great for glueing onto the front of folded cardstock to make angel Christmas cards and you could also sticky tape a loop of thread onto the back to make angel ornaments to hang on the Christmas tree too.
Another idea we had for this handprint angel craft was to swap the hand drawn faces for a child’s photograph instead. They’d make the cutest angel gifts to give to Grandparents!

- Multicultural Skin Tone Paper (Face)
- Coloured Paper (Hair)
- Yellow Pipe Cleaners
- White Glitter Pom Poms
- White Doilies
- Marker Pens
- Scissors

How To Make Handprint Angels
1 – To make the angel’s dress, draw around your hand onto white cardstock and cut it out.
2 – Make the angel’s halo by twisting a yellow pipe cleaner into a small loop. Leave a length of about 3 inches / 7 cm and then snip off the excess.
3 – Sticky tape the end of the halo onto the back of the handprint so it sticks out at the top by a few centimetres.
4 – Divide a doily into quarters and glue two onto the back of the handprint to make your angel wings.
5 – Cut a round face out of paper. We used this wonderful multicultural set from Sunworks.
6 – Glue on your angel’s face and draw on eyes, mouth and cheeks.
7 – Now you can give your angel some hair. This angel has orange hair which we made by cutting thin strips of paper and concertina folding them.
This angel has black curly hair which we made by cutting thin strips of paper and wrapping them around a pen to make them curl.
Our yellow haired angel was the simplest to make with just straight cut paper strips.
8 – Finish off your pretty handprint angel craft by glueing on some white glitter pom poms. We put a row around her neck and one on each finger tip.
