How To Make Paper Sunglasses
(Please note that these Heart Sunglasses are just for fun and offer no protection from the sun and should not be used as real sunglasses.)
Supplies Needed:
- Paper
- Cardstock (You could use an old cereal box)
- Coloured Cellophane
- Glitter Foam or Card
- Embroidery Threads
- Glue
- Scissors
Sunglasses Craft Instructions
1 – Start by sketching out the shape of the lenses and arms of the glasses. (we made hearts but you can make any shape.
2 – When you’re happy with your design, trace it onto cardstock and cut it out. (You could use an old cereal box.)
3 – Now you can have fun decorating the arms of your sunglasses with embroidery twine. Wrap around any colours you like and glue the ends to secure them. (Leave the last half inch or centimetre of the glasses end of the arms free of thread, so they can be glued in place later.) You can add some thread embellishments to the lens frames too if you like.
4 – Glue some coloured cellophane onto your cardboard glasses frames to make lenses. We found it easier to glue on rectangles and then trim the excess off.
5 – To make the front of your glasses look pretty, use the same template you made in step one, and cut out the frame shape from glitter foam or cardstock.
6 – Glue the glitter front on.
7 – Finally, bend the ends of the arms over and glue them to the back of the frames, one on either side.
8 – Now your heart sunglasses are ready to be worn! What a fun and groovy glasses craft for Valentine’s Day or any time of year for that matter!
(Please remember these paper eyeglasses are just for fun and offer no sun protection.)
