My children always get so excited when it’s really windy, there’s something quite exhilarating about it.

These Homemade Wind Socks are such an easy kids craft and a really fun way to “SEE” and “FEEL’ the effects of the wind. When you’re holding one outside in the wind it just makes you want to twirl, leap and skip around. Such fun!

Today we’ve turned them into festive Christmas Wind Socks using reds and greens. It’s so nice to wrap up warm and get outside for a good run around on a chilly winter day. I love seeing the little rosy cheeks and pink button noses don’t you?

CHRISTMAS WINDSOCKS An easy recycled Christmas craft for kids. A fun Winter activity for kids to enjoy twirling and running with outside.

Of course the wind socks are just as much fun in the summer too and we’d use our colourful rainbow windsock that looks amazing on a sunny day.

I love simple kids crafts that can actually be played with too and it’s really great that these wind socks are made using up-cycled milk bottles too and the handles are just perfect for little ones to hold onto while they’re playing with them.

Supplies To Make A Christmas Windsock

  • Empty Plastic Milk Bottle
  • Crepe Paper or Tissue Paper or Ribbons
  • Stapler
  • Scissors
  • Optional: Christmas Stickers/Tinsel/glitter etc.

How To Make Festive Windsocks

Remove the lid and cut the bottom off the milk bottle just below the handle.

Cut your paper/ribbons into long strips. Ours are 3cm wide and 70cm long. An easy way to cut the paper is to roll it up first and then snip through all the layers at the same time.Love simple Christmas kids crafts? Here's a Fun Festive Wind Sock. Staple a piece of paper or ribbon length on to the open end of the milk bottle.

Work your way around the whole open end of the milk bottle until it is full of paper strips.Love simple Christmas kids crafts? Here's a Fun Festive Wind Sock. So wrap up warm and get your little ones outside for a good run-a-round. (mylittle3andme.co.uk)

We stuck some additional Christmas stickers on ours just because we had them! You could leave it plain or add on any other decorations you like; perhaps some tinsel or glitter at Christmas time, or stickers to suit the time of year you’re making them in.

Take it out into the wind and have fun!
