How To Make A Polar Bear Puppet
1 – Print the Polar Bear Puppet Printable Template.
2 – Then cut out all the puppet pieces.
3 – Next, take the long body piece and fold it along the dotted lines. Glue it together to make a flat bottomed arch. This will be your polar bear puppet’s body.
4 – Accordion fold the four polar bear legs and use a marker pen to add detail to the paws.
5 – Glue the four legs onto the bottom of the body at the corners. Make sure the paws are all facing the same way.
6 – Glue the tail onto the back of the polar bear.
7 – Colour in the middle of the ears and glue them onto the back of the head.
8 – Add some eyes and a nose. You can colour in and use the ones from the template or use wiggle eyes and a small black pom pom nose like we did.
9 – Glue the polar bear’s head onto the body at the front.
How To Make Your Polar Bear Puppet Walk
10 – To move your polar bear puppet you need a handle at the back. Sticky tape a jumbo straw or craft stick onto the bottom of the polar bear’s body so that it sticks out at the back.
(We used a plastic jumbo straw as we have lots left in our craft supplies that we try to reuse again and again when we can. You could also tightly roll up a sheet of paper or use a wooden dowel, long paint stirrer or even a pencil. You just need something long enough to go under the bear and to poke out enough to hold.)
Now your polar bear craft is ready to be played with. Just twist your wrist from side to side to make him move along.
I’m sure your bears will have lots of fun adventures!
