When people think of Arctic animals they often think of penguins. But real penguins don’t actually live in the arctic at all! They prefer to hang out in the South Pole or Antarctic where there’s lots of water to swim in and fish to catch for their dinner.
Kids can visit National Geographic Kids to find out lots more fun penguin facts.

Rocking Penguin Craft Step-by-Step Instructions
1 – Start making your cute penguins with a black paper plate. If you don’t have one you can paint a paper plate black with black acrylic paint. This will be the penguin’s body.
2 – Next, cut a small white circle for each eye and glue them towards the top of the paper plate to make the penguin’s head. Then add a googly eye to each one.
3 – Then cut a large circular shape out of white paper to make the penguin’s belly and glue it to the low mid section of the paper plate.
4 – Cut an orange paper triangle and stick it between the lower part of the eyes to make the penguin’s orange beak.
5 – Now cut the penguin’s feet from orange cardstock and glue them to the bottom of the paper plate at the sides. (Make sure they don’t overhang the bottom otherwise the paper plate penguin won’t be able to rock.)
6 – To make the penguin’s flippers, cut two ovals or ellipses from black construction paper.
7 – Cut a simple bow tie from colored paper.
8 – Now glue the bow onto the penguins head or neck.
9 – Next glue a flipper to each side of the paper plate. You can position the penguin’s wings anywhere you like but try to make them the same on both sides of the paper plate so that it balances.
10 – Then give your penguin some cute rosy cheeks by adding a small circle of pink paper or a pom pom next to each eye.
11 – Next, fold a plain paper plate in half and attach a little rectangle of cardstock into the middle to prevent it from opening up again.
12 – Finally, glue the folded paper plate onto the back of the penguin shape. Make sure the two curved edges of the plates line up.
13 – Now your movable penguin paper plate craft is finished. You can give your little rocking paper plate penguin craft a gentle tap and see what happens! Little kids will love the fun way they waddle and rock from side to side just like real penguins!
What easy peasy adorable penguins crafts! They’re a great way to celebrate all things penguins!
