This St Patrick’s Day 3D Shamrock Craft is sure to brighten everyone’s day! It has a gorgeously colourful rainbow plant pot and is wonderfully 3D, with both the plant pot and the shamrock leaves lifting right off the page.
You can make your shamrock plant as big or as little as you like. Perhaps you’ll choose just one 4 leaf shamrock leaf or maybe you’ll add many. Whatever you choose, these 3D paper shamrock plants are sure to bring you lots of luck and smiles this spring!
This St Patrick’s Day craft is really easy to make with the printable shamrock template, which comes in full colour and also black and white to decorate in any way you choose.
We love the way the plant pots curl off the page. The printable shamrock template actually includes two striped plant pots to choose from. One pot has the wording “Happy St Patrick’s Day”, and one other is plain so that you can write on it yourself, if you fancy.
How To Make A 3D Paper Shamrock Plant
Shamrock Craft Supplies:
- Printable shamrock template (Click here to get yours from our shop)
- Printer paper or cardstock
- Mounting paper or cardstock
- Scissors
- Glue
- Optional: colouring pens, pencils etc.
St Patrick’s Day Shamrock Plant
1 – Download and print the shamrock plant template. If you’re using the B/W template colour it in.
2 – Cut out the template pieces and glue the stalks in a fan, onto a sheet of card or paper.
3 – Fold the tabs on the plant pot under.
4 – Apply glue to the tabs and stick the pot over the plant stalks in an arch, to lift it off the page.
5 – How do you make a 3D shamrock out of paper? It’s easy! Fold the shamrock leaves in half diagonally along the dashed line, then repeat along the second dotted line. (Make sure to leave the heart shape showing on the outside.)
6 – Cut the excess paper from the top of the dotted heart line. (Do not cut the dashed fold lines.)
7 – Now you have a heart shape. Make a crease by folding it in half, from the point to the middle of the heart top.
8 – Unfold the leaves and glue one to the top of each plant stalk.
