The build up to Christmas gets really busy here. There’s lots of shopping to do, friends and family to spend time with, Christmas parties for the kids and various school concerts and carol services. It’s all lovely and I adore every minute. It does mean though that family meal times feel the squeeze and I turn to recipes that are quick and easy to put together.
With the help of my bread making machine these Christmas Tree pizza are a really easy way to do some festive cooking with the children and they think they’re great fun in the build up to Christmas.
Christmas Cooking With Kids – Christmas Tree Pizza – You Will Need:
For the pizza dough:
- Bread Making Machine
- 1/2 tsp Yeast
- 300 g Strong White Flour
- 1/2 tbsp Sugar
- 1 tsp Salt
- 210 ml Water
For the pizza topping:
- 1/2 Carton Passata
- 1 tbsp Tomato Ketchup
- 1 tbsp Basil
- Grated Cheese to Taste (we love loads!)
- Vegetables to decorate. We love bright peppers and olives and think they look quite like baubles and tinsel, but you could use anything you fancy.
How To Make Christmas Tree Pizzas
Put your dough ingredients into your bread maker in the order given. And set it to dough only program. (Some models even have a pizza dough setting.)
Once your dough is made, roll it out on a floured board and cut it into a simple Christmas tree shape. You could make one big pizza or a few little ones. You need to keep the shapes quite plain because it puffs a bit in the oven and anything intricate will be lost.
Mix the passata, ketchup and basil together in a bowl and spread over the top of the dough.
Sprinkle on half the grated cheese.
Arrange your ‘baubles and tinsel’ vegetables and sprinkle on the second half of the cheese.
Bake in the oven at 220 C for 15-20 mins until golden and brown.
As a finishing touch you could even cut a cheese star to go on the top!
