Chinese Dragon Craft For Kids
With nothing more than a paper cup and some coloured paper, you can make your very own Chinese Dragon to celebrate Chinese New Year. It’s very simple, scroll down to see the step by step craft guide.
Craft Supplies:
- Paper Cups
- Construction Paper (Red, Yellow, Orange, Black and White)
- Red Paint
- Scissors
- Glue
- Brush
How to Make a Chinese New Year Dragon
1 – First, cut the base off a paper cup and paint the cup red.
2 – On red paper or cardstock, sketch out the head of your dragon (basically a wiggly circle with two horns), two arched eyes and a nose. Add smaller white and black arches to the eyes to make the whites and pupils.
3 – To make the dragon breathe fire, cut strips of red, orange and yellow paper.
4 – Glue the strips into the narrow end of the cup.
5 – Curl the strips outwards. You can wrap them round your finger or a pencil.
6 – Now, glue the dragon’s snout onto the head.
7 – Finally, fold over the ends of the eyes and nose and glue them on top of the paper cup.
Now your roarsome fire breathing dragon is ready to do its dragon day to welcome in the New Year. What a fun way to celebrate Chinese New Year.
