This egg dye recipe is super easy and you’ll be glad to hear you won’t need an egg dye kit or to soak your eggs in vinegar either! You can literally create these gorgeous tie-dye eggs in minutes with our fun and easy method!
As you can see from the photos above and below the tie-dyed easter eggs are super bright and colourful.
We used red, yellow, blue and green colours to decorate our eggs but you can use any colours you like and have lots of fun mixing and matching to create different effects.
We’ve tie dyed large white eggs but you can use this egg decorating technique with any eggs you happen to have to hand. With brown eggs the colours might be a little more muted though.

Easy Tie Dye Decorated Easter Eggs
Craft Supplies:
- Hard Boiled Eggs (Or you can blow them.)
- Coffee Filters
- Food Colouring
- Rubber Bands
- Protective Rubber Gloves
How to Make Tie Dye Eggs
1 – Hard boil your eggs and let them cool completely. (Alternatively you can blow the if your prefer.)
2 – Pop an egg into the middle of a coffee filter and wrap it up tightly. Secure the ends together with an elastic band.
2 – Wearing rubber gloves to prevent staining, squeeze a drop of food colouring onto the coffee filter.
3 – Keep adding drops of food colouring until the whole of the coffee filter is covered. You can use as many different colours as you like.
4 – Let the eggs soak in the dye for at least 5 minutes. the longer you leave them, the stronger the colour transfer will be.
5 – Unwrap the eggs and leave them to dry for 5 to 10 minutes.
