We really enjoy interactive crafts that kids can play with, so we’ve created this WALKING TURKEY PUPPET CRAFT that is so much fun! Turkey crafts are great for autumn, Thanksgiving or Christmas and this one is sure to inspire lots of imaginative play, story telling and giggles.
These fun turkeys are nice and chunky for little hands and it’s really easy to bring them to life.
To make them walk kids simply hold the popsicle stick handle and twist their wrist from side to side. These fun turkey puppets are so characterful!
Our turkey puppets are really easy to make with the printable template. It comes in black and white that kids can enjoy decorating for themselves and also in ready coloured.
There’s even a choice of different tail and colour designs too, so kids can have fun mixing and matching to make lots of different turkeys!

How To Make Turkey Puppets
Turkey Puppet Craft Supplies:
- Printable Turkey Puppet Template
- Printer Cardstock
- Jumbo Craft Sticks
- Scissors
- Glue
- Sticky Tape
- Optional: Colouring Pens/Pencils
Walking Turkey Puppet Tutorial
1 – Download and print the Turkey Puppet Template. Chose your turkey tail. There are 6 coloured ones and 3 black and ones to choose from. (If you are using the b/w version then colour them in.) Then cut out all the template pieces.
2 – Fold the body along the dotted lines and glue the two tabs together to make an arch.
3 – Glue the ends of the head piece together to make a tube.
4 – Glue the head to the top of the body and then glue on the eyes, snood and beak.
5 – Apply a little glue to the bottom middle of the tail and stick it to the back of the body.
6 – Concertina / zigzag fold the legs.
7 – Glue the feet to the bottom of the legs and then glue the top of the legs to the underside of the body.
8 – Sticky tape a jumbo craft stick to the underneath of the body, so that it sticks out at the back.
9 – To make the turkey walk, hold the craft stick handle and twist your wrist from side to side and move your hand forward.
