Whale Puppet Craft Tutorial
Whale Craft Supplies:
- Printable Whale Puppet Template
- Cardstock
- Marker Pen
- Jumbo Craft Stick
- Scissors
- Glue
- Sticky Tape
How To Make Whale Puppets
1 – Download and print the whale craft template. You can choose the B/W template (see picture above) and colour it in or trace around it onto coloured card. Alternatively you can use one of the coloured whale templates. There are 9 bright colours to choose from. (See picture below.)
2 – Carefully cut out the whale craft template pieces. You will have a tail, body, eyes, water spout and tummy base plate.
3 – Turn the tail over so it’s coloured side down. Line up and glue on the tummy base plate.
4 – Turn the tail back over, coloured side up. Add a thin strip of glue to the underneath narrow end of the body. Line it up and glue it on to the tail piece.
5 – Apply a thin strip of glue to the coloured side of the body at the wide head end. Lift the body up, curl the head end over and glue it onto the wide end of the tail piece. (You should have a little section of base plate poking out.)
6 – Apply some glue to the piece of tummy base plate that is poking out and curl it up and glue it on.
7 – Glue on the eyes and draw on a smile.
8 – Roll up and glue the water spout into a cylinder. (The dotted cutting lines need to run lengthways.)
9 – Carefully snip up the short dotted lines. Fold over the ends and glue them down to close the tube.
10 – Carefully cut down the long dotted lines.
11 – Glue the water spout onto the whale’s back.
12 – Make a handle by sticky taping your jumbo craft stick onto the base of the whale so it pokes out of the back and fold the tail upwards.
Now your whale craft is ready to swim off on an adventure!
