Join us to make cute Woodland Handprint Badger Puppets. Autumn always gets us thinking about Woodland animals. I guess it’s linked to our focus on trees as they lose their leaves and animals like hedgehogs and bears as they start to prepare for Winter hibernation.
Here in the UK one of our favourite woodland animals is the badger. A highly elusive and quite beautiful animal. The badger’s simple and distinctive black and white coat make it the perfect candidate for a handprint puppet.
These Woodland Handprint Badger Puppets are so simple to make and a lot of fun to play with. Team them up with your favourite woodland animals story book or use them for imaginative play in a homemade puppet theatre. These homemade badger puppets will provide lots of enjoyment for kids.
Animal crafts are a great way for kids to learn about and develop a caring for the natural world around them. Here’s a few of our other animal themed favourites for you to bookmark for later too.

Woodland Handprint Badger Puppets Tutorial
1 – Start your badger puppets by making their bodies from tracing around your hands onto sturdy black card. Then use Acrylic paint to add on any white fur details. We gave our badger puppets little white tails by painting our thumbs. (If you don’t have black card then just use whatever colour you have and paint it black)
2 – Next make your badger head out of black card. We cut a slightly rounded triangle shape with some small rounded ears.
3 – Now paint the badger puppets heads with their distinctive white pattern. We used acrylic paint because it has good coverage and we only needed one coat.
4 – Glue on some googly eyes. In real life badgers eyesight is quite poor! You can see some more fun badger facts here.
5 – Flip your badgers body over and glue on a jumbo craft stick for a puppet handle. We laid ours along the middle finger and added some sticky tape too to make it extra secure.
6 – Turn your badger puppet back the right way and glue on its head.
Your handprint badger puppets are now ready for playing with. If you fancy you might like to make a little night time woodland scene for them too. We simply traced around our arm and hand on brown card to make trees, cut some green paper grass and a yellow star and moon too. Everything you need for some nocturnal adventures!
We hope you like these simple handprint badger puppets craft. Why not pin it for later?
