A 3D Paper Squirrel Full of Personality!
Our printable squirrel craft for kids is super special! It’s actually a 3D paper squirrel that stands upright all on its own. How cute is that?
Each adorable squirrel puppet craft has a happy little face with whiskers, a bushy tail, and is holding a yummy-scrummy, delicious acorn in its paws.
Kids can add a simple popsicle stick handle underneath and suddenly they’ve got a DIY squirrel puppet that can walk, dance, or even join a puppet show! What fun!
Printable Squirrel Puppet Template
This cut and paste squirrel puppet is perfect for younger children and older children.
The printable squirrel template comes in two versions: a ready-to-use colour template for quick crafting, and a black-and-white version that kids can colour, decorate and personalise in any way they choose.
Each template also has a ready made face and a design your own face too.
This is such a cute craft activity for fall and kids will love making and playing with their own handmade squirrel puppet.

Step 1 – Download and print the SQUIRREL PUPPET TEMPLATE and cut out the pieces. (If you are using the black and white option, colour it before cutting it out.)
Step 2 – Fold the squirrel’s body along the dotted lines and glue the tab to make an arch shape.
Step 3 – If you are using the design your own face option then glue on the eyes and nose and draw a happy smile and whiskers.
Step 4 – Curl the squirrel’s head into a tube and glue it in place.
Step 5 – Glue the ears onto the top of the head and then glue the head onto the squirrel body.
Step 6 – Apply some glue to the bottom of the tail and attach it to the back of the squirrel’s body. You can point it in different ways.
Step 7 – Draw some toes onto the squirrel’s feet and glue them to the bottom of the body.
Step 8 – Draw some fingers onto the front paws.
Step 9 – Glue the flat ends of the front paws inside the front of the body.
Step 10 – Put a dab of glue onto the end of each front paw and bend it forwards to attach it to the acorn.
Step 11 – Finally, if you want to use your 3D squirrel as a puppet, sticky tape a jumbo popsicle stick handle onto the body base.
Now your cute little squirrel friend is ready to go on lots of forest adventures! Have fun!
