What comes to mind when you think of the British Summer? For me it’s three things: Wimbledon, strawberries & cream and of course rain showers! Inspired by all three I’ve got together with the kiddies to create these super tasty, no added sugar, fruit packed Strawberries and Cream Popsicles. Yummy!
We’re teaming these fruity ice lollies up with homemade games of Balloon Tennis, that we can enjoy inside or out. We’re all set for fun, frolics and tasty treats to see the whole family through a fortnight of Wimbledon WOWs whatever the weather!
I love that these strawberries and cream popsicles are super quick and easy to make from just two all natural ingredients, which frees me up from the kitchen and gives me more time for family fun.
Each homemade strawberry pop is packed with a massive 100g of fresh strawberries giving us well over one of our five a day and with no added sugar or other nasties it’s great to know that we can enjoy a sweet treat that’s actually good for us too!
I think we’ll be making a lot of these over the Summer!
Ingredients For Strawberries and Cream Popsicles
(Makes 6)
- 150ml Double / Heavy Cream
- 600g Fresh Strawberries
- Ice Popsicle Moulds US / UK
- Blender US / UK
How To Make All Natural Strawberries and Cream Popsicles
These DIY strawberry popsicles are made in two delicious layers with a smooth creamy top and a juicy, fruity bottom. Yummy.
We zipped to our local Co-op food store to pick up our juicy strawberries and cream and were back home ready to get started in minutes.
To make the creamy layer use the blender to whizz up 200g strawberries with 150ml of cream to make a smooth pink paste. Divide this into your 6 popsicle moulds to fill them half way.
To make the fruity layer blend up the remaining 400g of strawberries to make a smooth puree and add it to your popsicle moulds to create two colourful layers. (If your strawberries are too tart you could always add a spoon of honey to sweeten.)
Pop them in the freezer to set and hey presto you have deliciously fruity, homemade strawberries and cream popsicles that are healthy! The perfect treat to enjoy while watching a bit of Summer tennis.
If you’re keen to get the kids more involved in Wimbledon fortnight why not enjoy a game or two of Balloon Tennis too?
This game is so easy to set up and can be played indoors, perfect for those Summer showers we never seem to escape.
Simply tape a wooden jumbo craft stick onto the back of a paper plate to make a racquet, and blow up a balloon to make a ball.
To truly get us into the spirit of Wimbledon we even grabbed the felt markers and decorated our rackets and balloon to look like the real thing.
Now the kids can have fun developing their gross motor skills and letting off steam while pretending to be competing alongside Federer and Djokovic. And when they’re completely tuckered out they can sit back and slurp on a delicious and refreshing Strawberries and Cream Popsicle!
Ahhhh Summer, don’t you just love it?
