How To Make A 3D Cactus Craft
Supplies:
- Green Cardstock
- Green Paper Straws
- Tissue Paper Squares
- Colourful Paper Cup
- Rainbow Yarn
- Mini Pom Poms
- Brown Shredded Paper
- Pencil
- Scissors
- Glue
Let’s Make a Colourful Cactus!
1 – Fold a piece of green cardstock in half. (A4 or letter size) Sketch a cactus shape onto it and cut it out. (Tip: Keep the cactus quite wide to give it more stability but make sure it will still fit inside a paper cup.)
2 – Fold the cactus pieces in half to find the mid point. Open them up and cut down the middle of one from the base to the mid point. Then cut down the middle of the other from the top to the mid point.
3 – To make the cactus spikes, cut your paper straws into little pieces and glue them onto both sides of the paper cactus pieces. Don’t glue any along the midline!
4 – To make cactus flowers, wrap a square of colourful tissue paper around the end of a pencil and glue it onto the end of the arms of your cactus pieces.
5 – To make the cactus 3D slot the two pieces together. You can add a little glue to hold them in place.
6 – Now your cactus needs a colourful pot. Wrap some rainbow yarn around the top of the paper cup and sticky tape it into place. Then glue on some mini pom-poms.
7 – Put some brown shredded paper into the bottom of the cup and then sit the cactus in. Fill the gaps around the base of the cactus with more shredded paper to hold it upright.
Now your gorgeously colourful 3D cactus craft is ready to go on display! What a wonderful craft for summer!
