How To Make A Colourful Lion Craft Using A Scrape Painting Technique
– To make your own gorgeous 3D scrape painted lions, first download and print our free lion craft template. (Get yours at the bottom of this tutorial.) I recommend printing it onto printer cardstock rather than paper, if you can.
– The lion’s mane is made with a lovely mix of all sorts of colours. Simply dab a spot or two of all your own paint colour choices onto the printed circle.
– Make a scraper by cutting out a square of old cardboard box and use it to drag along the dots of paint. We went from the middle to the outside and worked our way around the circle. Kids will love seeing their lion start to come to life as they work on this art project!
– Next scrape paint yellow all over the lion’s face.
– If you want to you can colour in more detail on the lion’s face using paint and a small brush or marker pens etc.
– When the scrape painting are dry, cut out the lion’s mane and head.
– To make the mane 3D, cut into it all around the edge.
– Glue the centre of the lion mane onto a sheet of paper or cardstock and then glue it’s face into the middle. Gently push the sections of the mane up a little.
I hope you enjoy using this simple scrape painting technique to make your own coloured 3D lion craft. We love how ours turned out! Who knows, maybe your painted lion craft will end up being the king of the jungle!
