How To Make a Hot Air Balloon
1 – To start, cut some fluffy white clouds from white paper and glue them on to a sheet of blue paper or cardstock. We let our clouds over lap the edge of the page.
2 – To make the hot air balloon’s basket, glue 6 mini popsicle sticks in row vertically, towards the bottom of the blue sheet. Then glue three more mini popsicle sticks horizontally across them. This gives the impression of a woven balloon basket.
3 – Now you can make the pretty balloon. To do this cut a large heart shape from coloured paper. It can be any colour you like. We made a pink hot air balloon and also a yellow one.
4 – Next, cover the heart hot air balloon with little tissue paper heart confetti. You can buy this or just cut your own if you have tissue paper and a heart cutter.
5 – Then glue the two side edges of the heart hot air balloon onto the blue paper towards the top. Leave a gap under the balloon so that it lifts off the page and looks 3D.
6 – Finish off your hot air balloon craft by drawing on some ropes connecting the basket and balloon together. You can also draw on some little birds flying past too in you want to.
I love the simplicity of this heart hot air balloon craft and how bright and cheerful it looks. Because it’s a heart shape it makes a lovely craft for Valentine’s Day but I think it would be equally nice for Mother’s Day and summer time.
