How To Make a Valentine’s Day Bee Craft
1- Start this easy craft by making your bee’s body. Cut a large yellow circle cardstock for the body and a small yellow paper circle for the bee’s head.
2 – To make the bee’s stripes, cut some thin strips of black paper or cardstock and glue them onto the body of the bee. Then trim the excess off the black strips with scissors. (You could paint the stripes on with acrylic paints if you prefer.)
3 – Next, glue the bee head onto the body.
4 – To make the bee’s antennae, cut two thin short strips of black craft paper. (You could use short pieces of black pipe cleaners if you prefer.) Glue them onto the back of the bee’s head so they poke out at the top. Then cut a pink or red heart from pink or red construction paper and glue them onto the end of each antenna.
5 – Next, glue on two goggly eyes and draw a happy smile. (You could cut white circles from paper if you prefer.)
6 – Then, cut two little hearts from pink or red paper and glue them on as cute rosy cheeks. Then cut a large heart shape and glue it on to the side of the bee.
7 – Now, cut out a little black triangle to make the bee’s stinger.
8 – Draw around a hand onto white paper or white cardstock. Cut it out and glue it on to make the bee’s wings. (You could use two handprints if you prefer.)
9 – Finally, turn the bee puppet over and sticky tape a jumbo craft stick handle onto the back. Now your bee is ready to fly into action. What a great craft to inspire fun and play!
What a great Valentine Day craft. Kids can have so much fun playing with their bee puppets and sharing them with special friends.
If you’re using this craft in a school then it’s a great way to decorate your spring or Valentine themed bulletin board! And for elementary school kids you could add an optional writing task too. It would be great for an insect study unit.
