The children and I love Easter eggs hunts and it’s lovely to have something cute to collect your yummy goodies in. These Homemade Easter Baskets are a great way to re-use old plastic milk jugs and they’re easy, quick and fun to make.
We get through so many plastic milk bottles in our household, it’s good to have some crafts that make use of them. So as well as these lovely Easter Baskets why don’t you take a look at our pretty Rainbow Mobile and Rocking Chick too.
How To Make An Easter Basket
Supplies To Make Recycled Easter Baskets
(This post contains affiliate links.)
- 4 pint plastic milk bottle, washed and dried
- scissors
- pencil
- acrylic paint
- stapler
For The Rabbit Easter Basket You’ll Also Need:
- an additional milk bottle
- glue (I used UHU)
- art straws or drinking straws for whiskers
How To Make Easter Baskets
1 – Decide how deep you want your basket and using the picture to guide you mark out your cut lines on the bottle using pencil.
2 – Starting at the top of the milk bottle, use scissors to cut out your base and handle. Remember you don’t have to use straight lines, have fun with waves or zigzags too.
3 – Once you’re happy with your shapes paint using acrylic paints and allow to dry. You may need two coats.
4 – When dry simply staple your handle into place.
(For the rabbit we cut the ears out of a second milk bottle and stapled them into place. For the whiskers we flattened the ends of some art-straws and glued them together in a three. When they were dry I glued them in place on the basket.
