How To Make Leprechaun Hat Blowers – An Easy St Patrick’s Day Craft For Kids
– Cut a rectangle of green cardstock approx 8cm x 21cm.
– Roll the green rectangle up to make a tube about the same size as a toilet roll middle. Glue it into shape.
– To make the rim of your leprechaun hat craft cut a circle from green cardstock. It needs to be about 2 or 3 cms wider than the tube all the way round.
– Put your cardboard tube onto the middle of your circle and lightly draw around it.
– To make the circular rim fit onto your Leprechaun Hat Blowers carefully poke a small hole into the middle of the circle with your scissors. (Grown ups only.) Then snip from the centre hole outwards to the pencil line that you drew. Repeat it all around the inner circle to make little triangle shaped cuts.
– Push the green rim onto your Leprechaun Hat Blower and glue it into place.
– Cut a thin strip of black cardstock to make a band for your leprechaun hat craft.
– Wrap the black band around the base of the leprechaun hat and glue it into place.
– To make the buckle for your leprechaun hat cut a small rectangle from yellow cardstock and snip out the middle.
– Glue the buckle onto the front of the hat.
– The leprechaun beard is made out of thin orange tissue paper. You can use ordinary paper if that’s all you have but it is heavier and therefore less easy to blow. Cut a rectangle long enough to wrap around the tube of the hat. Next cut it into lots of thin strips leaving the top intact. We used pinking shears to give a wiggly hairy look.
– Glue the uncut piece of orange beard into the base of the leprechaun hat leaving the tassels hanging down.
– Now your Leprechaun Hat Blowers are finished and ready to be enjoyed. Blow hard down the inside of the hat and watch the leprechaun beard billow around. So fun!
