How To Make a Elf House From Paper
To begin with, gather your basic craft supplies. This is what you’ll need:
- Free Printable Elf Coloring Pages (Get yours at the bottom of this post.)
- Printer Cardstock
- Coloring Materials: Pens, Pencils, Acrylic Paint etc.
- Scissors
- Glue
Step-by-Step Guide: Building An Elf House
Step 1 – Download and Print:
Start by downloading the free printable elf house and roof templates. (Get yours at the bottom of this post.) We recommend using white cardstock but you can use printer paper if your prefer.
Step 2 – Color and Create:
There are three different house designs and three different roofs awaiting your child’s artistic touch! Armed with crayons and markers in bright colors, let your kids unleash their creativity.
Use any colours you like and don’t forget that you can always glue on extra embellishments too if you like. How about some mini pom poms or tinsel? We think adding a bit of bio-glitter is a fun way to create some elfin magic!
Step 3 – Cut and Glue:
Once the coloring is complete, carefully cut out your chosen house and roof.
Start with the elf house and carefully fold over all the little triangular tabs on the circular base and top. They’re a little small and fiddly so it’s great for fine motor skills! (Little kids might need a bit of adult help.) Then, pop some glue on them (a tiny dab of glue will do) and roll the template up to make a 3D paper house.
Next, repeat the process with the roof and finally glue the roof to the top of the house.
Step 4 – Display and Play!
Now the finished product is ready to be enjoyed. It’s time to pop your gorgeous elf paper houses on display to create a little miniature world for all your family members to marvel at.
Older children might like to glue a little twine loop to the top of the roof and use them as Christmas tree ornaments. They’d look super cute hanging next to the candy canes and Christmas lights!
Of course, little hands can have lots of fun playing with the elf paper houses too! (We think this is the best way to use them!) They’ll be a great addition to any little fairy or elf toys that younger kids might have. (And if you don’t have any, it’s easy peasy to make little elf and fairy figures by twisting pipe cleaners into simple body shapes.)
