Because it’s made with Marshmallow Peeps the texture is fluffy and soft, it smells good and the colours are gorgeous pastels. A truly multi sensory play experience for kids of all ages this Easter.
This taste safe playdough recipe is super simple to make with only needs three ingredients. In the past you may have seen edible playdough with marshmallows and powdered sugar. That’s all well and good but a bit of an open invitation for the kids to scoff the lot! You might prefer that this is a fluffy marshmallow playdough with flour instead. It’s still taste safe in that it is made with food stuffs, but without tasting so delicious that the kids want to eat it rather than play with it!
(Please note: all of the ingredients are food stuffs but this is taste safe not edible play dough. The flour in it is uncooked and there have been concerns about the safety of raw flour. Only you can decide what is safe for your children, please inform yourself of the facts before deciding whether this play idea is suitable.)

Taste Safe Peeps Marshmallow Play Dough Ingredients
- Marshmallow Peep Bunnies (Now available in the UK from Amazon too)
- Flour
- Crisco Shortening (Now available in the UK from Amazon too)
How To Make Taste Safe Peeps Marshmallow Play Dough
1 – Make one colour of marshmallow play dough at a time. Start by putting 5 Peeps Easter Bunnies into a microwave safe bowl with 4 tablespoons of flour and 1 tablespoon of Crisco.
2 – Heat the play dough ingredients in the microwave for about 30 seconds. You want the marshmallow to start to melt without getting too hot to touch. Use a spoon to mix it well to form a soft dough.
3 – Make sure it’s not too hot and knead it into a ball with your hands. If the Peeps play dough is a little bit too sticky you can add a sprinkling of flour and gently knead it again.
4 – Repeat the steps above for each colour of Peeps Easter Candy that you are going to use. I think it’s lovely for the children to have a selection of colours to choose from.
Now your taste safe Peeps Marshmallow Play Dough is ready for some Easter or Spring sensory play! Enjoy!
(Store your marshmallow playdough an airtight bag or container and for up to 30 days. If it starts to gets hard then you can gently microwave it for 5 to 10 seconds to soften it. Make sure it is a safe temperature before giving it to children to play with.)
