How To Make A No-Sew Felt Heart Necklace
Felt is such a great textile for kids to work with because it doesn’t fray! This makes it perfect for no-sew projects like these cute heart necklaces! Because children don’t have to worry about sewing any edges these heart necklaces can be made, worn and enjoyed in just minutes!
To start cut out three felt hearts each a little smaller than the last. We used a cookie cutter as a stencil for our largest heart, marking it out on the back of the felt with pencil. Then we drew two more and trimmed each one a little more than the last to make them smaller.
Next glue your felt heart layers together with UHU Glue or Fabric Glue. A thin line of glue around the edge of the heart will suffice. UHU will dry in 10 mins or so but fabric glue may take a little longer.
To wear your homemade jewellery you’ll need to flip the heart necklace over and glue on a length of ribbon. (You could always add a brooch pin instead if you prefer.)
If you want to you can finish off your heart necklace with some added “bling” on the front, such as feather trim, glitter or sequins.
Isn’t this an easy kids felt craft? These heart necklaces are fun for dressing up and would make great gifts for kids to make for others, perhaps for Valentines Day, Mother’s Day or even Teacher Appreciation Day too!
SAFETY WARNING
Please never leave your child unattended with ANYTHING around their neck. For added safety you could fasten the ribbon with velcro or add a length of elastic.
