This Lucky Leprechaun craft is great fun for St Paddy’s Day. This is a super St Patrick’s Day craft to decorate the home or classroom and everyone will love how cute they are, with their big round bellies and ginger beards! What’s more, these cheeky fellows hold a horseshoe, so they’re sure to bring you lots of luck too!
The printable leprechaun template makes this a really easy craft to make. You can make them as a standalone, like we have, or mount them onto a backing sheet if you prefer.
The template comes in 3 formats for your convenience:
- Ready coloured
- B/W to colour in or trace around onto coloured paper
- B/W to print straight onto coloured paper
In the photo above you’ll see the leprechaun on the left is made from the ready coloured template and the leprechaun on the right was made by tracing the template onto glitter card. (The glitter doesn’t show up that well in the photo, I’m afraid, but it looks pretty awesome in real life!)
This fun St Patrick’s Day craft has 4 lucky horseshoes to choose from. Three have got pre-written messages and the fourth is blank so that you can write your own message if you prefer.

1 – Cut out the leprechaun template pieces.
2 – Glue the face onto the beard at the top.
3 – Glue the beard to the top of the body.
4 – Glue on the hat and the shamrock. (If you’ve used the black and white template, you’ll need to glue on the hat band and buckle too.)
5 – Glue the eyes and nose onto the face and draw on a smile.
6 – Glue the boots onto the back of the body, at the the bottom.
7 – Choose a lucky horseshoe and glue it onto the middle of the body. (Make sure it’s the right way round so your luck doesn’t fall out!)
