Supplies To Make Rocking Bats:

  • 2 Black Paper Plates
  • Googly Eyes
  • Scissors
  • Glue

How To Make A Rocking Paper Plate Bat Craft

Each rocking bat craft is made from two black paper plates. If you don’t have black ones then ordinary ones painted black will work just fine too.

1 – Fold one of your black paper plates in half to make the bat’s body. To make the bat’s wings fold the other plate in half, open it up and cut across the crease you made.

2 – To shape the bat’s wings make two or three semi circle cuts along the flat edge of your paper plate halves. You might prefer to sketch them on with pencil before you cut.

3 – To enable the bat’s wings to join the body cut two small slits, about 2cm/1inch, into either end of the fold in your whole paper plate.

4 – Slide the bat wings into the slits and glue them onto the back of the front side of the bat craft. Repeat for both wings.

5 – To stop the bat’s body from being pushed flat by the weight of the wings we need to secure the two sides together. Use one of the pieces you cut out to shape the bat’s wings. Fold it in half and insert it inside the folded paper plate. Glue both ends to either side of the paper plate to make a supporting cross bar.

6 – Using more of the pieces you cut out when shaping the bat wings, cut a smile and two pointed teeth.

7 – Glue the googly eyes, smile and fangs onto your rocking paper plate bat craft and it’s ready to play with!

Enjoy tapping your bat’s wings and watching it rocking from side to side. So fun!
