We’ve been really enjoying our shape crafts recently. They are such a fun way to get creative and learn about 2D shapes at the same time. Our autumn Owl Shape Craft has been a big hit with readers so I thought it would be nice to make an autumn tree shape craft too. Once I go started creating the printable templates, one thing led to another and I ended up creating a FOUR SEASON SHAPE TREE CRAFT instead. I love that this is a fun math art / craft activity that can be enjoyed all year round!
Four Season Shape Trees are a lovely way to introduce kids to 2D shapes and to consolidate learning all through the year. It’s an easy seasons craft to set up with the printable templates. This math art covers the following nine shapes: circles, ovals, semi-circles, triangles, squares, rectangles, pentagons, hexagons and octagons.
The printable tree templates comes in four sets of colours, one for each season. For Spring blossom there are pink and purple shapes, for Summer leaves there are green shapes, for Autumn leaves there are yellow, red and orange shapes and for Winter there are white snowflake shapes. There’s also an additional black/white set which children can enjoy colouring in themselves.
I’ve designed the template sets so that you can work on the shapes of your choice to meet the needs of your children or students. There is the flexibility to choose either just one shape, a combination of shapes or all of them.

How To Make Season Shape Trees
1 – Download and print the the Shape Tree Templates. Choose from ready coloured or black and white.
2 – Cut out the pieces for the season of your choice.
3 – Cut out the rectangles to make the tree. Onto a sheet of paper, glue the largest rectangle for the trunk, the medium sized rectangles for the branches.
4 – Then glue on the smallest rectangles for the twigs.
5 – Decorate your tree with the shapes that you cut out. Pink/purples for Spring, greens for Summer, oranges for Autumn and white for Winter. If you are making an Autumn tree then it’s nice to glue some of the shapes onto the ground of your picture to look like fallen leaves.
Each Set Is Made Up Of: 1 page of different sized rectangles to make the tree. 1 page of 9 mixed shapes (One of each: circle, oval, semi-circle, triangle, square, rectangle, pentagon, hexagon, octagon.) 1 page of x9 circles 1 page of x9 ovals 1 page of x9 semi-circles 1 page of x9 triangles 1 page of x9 squares 1 page of x9 rectangles 1 page of x9 pentagons 1 page of x9 hexagons 1 page of x9 octagons To Use: 1 – Print the templates of your choice and cut them out. 2 – Glue the rectangular trunk, branches and twigs onto a backing sheet to make your tree. 3 – Glue on the shapes to match your season.
