How To Make a Pop Up Bunny Rabbit Puppet
This puppet craft is so simple, you’ll be able to have a whole warren of these cute bunnies bouncing their way into your day in no time!
To make the grass your bunny rabbit puppet is going to hide in simply snip around the top of your cardboard tube and paint it green. (We used an empty TP roll.)
To make your pop up bunny rabbit puppet, paint your jumbo craft stick any colour you like. We made a cute pink bunny but you might prefer a brown bunny, a spotty bunny or a multi coloured stripy bunny! It’s lovely to let the kids’ imaginations take the lead.
Once the painted craft stick is dry it’s time to add the features to turn it into a pop up bunny rabbit puppet. We simple added google eyes, made some whiskers and ears from coloured felt and used a mini pom pom for an adorably cute fluffy nose. You could always use a pom pom to make a cute little bobtail too. All the rabbit’s features were just stuck on with a blob of glue and left to dry. (We love using UHU.)
Now your cute and colourful bunny rabbit is ready to bounce into action and have some fun! Pop him inside the tube and pull him down to hide him inside. When he’s ready to bounce up to say hello just give him a little upwards push.
This is a fun craft for an adult to show a baby. Babies adore games of peek-a-boo! (Please don’t let your baby hold this craft though, it’s not baby proof, but they will like to watch you play with it.)
Older children can have a lovely time using their imaginations to bring this pop up bunny rabbit puppet to life. What will they call their bunny? What’s his favourite food? What games does he like to play? Perhaps they’d like to make him a friend too?
