We love making puppets here on Kids Craft Room. It’s so nice to make something with the kids that they can enjoy playing with when they’ve finished too. This WALKING SPIDER PUPPET CRAFT is really easy to make with the PRINTABLE TEMPLATE and is so much fun! It’s sure to inspire lots of imaginative play.
The spider puppet printable comes in a massive 9 different colour designs and there’s also a plain template, that children can enjoy colouring in and decorating themselves.
I love that all the coloured body parts can be mixed and matched to create a huge range of different looking spiders to play with.
The spider puppets are nice and chunky for little hands and are really easy to make walk along. All you need to do is hold the popsicle stick handle and gently twist your wrist from side to side.
Do watch the video to see them in action. They’re the cutest spiders I know!
We’ve got lots of other puppet crafts here on Kids Craft Room that you might like too, so do take a peek! There are lots of puppet ideas to keep the kids entertained all through the seasons.
We’ve also got lots of other spider crafts too.
These walking spider puppets are lots of fun for Halloween, Itsy Bitsy Spider play and bug and mini-beast study themes. I hope you have as much fun with them as we have!

Puppet Spider Craft Tutorial
1 – Choose your spider colours and cut out the pieces. (If you are colouring your own design, then do that first.)
2 – Fold the 5 circles in half with the coloured side inwards.
3 – Make the spider’s back by gluing the plain side of the folded circles together, one by one, to make a fan. (Decide the order of the colours before you stick.)
4 – Glue the eyes onto the face and draw a smile.
5 – Glue the jumbo popsicle stick handle onto the tummy.
6 – With the colours facing upwards, fold the legs in half to make up-side-down V shaped mountains.
7 – Fold each end outwards to make a little foot.
8 – Turn the face and tummy over and glue 4 legs onto each side of the back of the tummy, using the little feet you folded in step seven.
9 – Glue the spider’s back on.
10 – Fold the head upwards.
11 – Hold the popsicle stick handle and twist your wrist from side to side to make your spider puppet walk.
